Expert Dog Training in Mission, KS

Mission is one of the most walkable spots in Johnson County, and homes sit close together, so your dog’s behavior affects the neighbors too. That puts a premium on leash manners and quiet, reliable obedience.

We start with a free evaluation, match your dog to the right program, and focus on behavior that holds up in everyday Mission life, from the shaded loop at Streamway Park to Saturday errands on Johnson Drive.

Our Clients Say It Best

“We have had the best experience with day training for our 1.5 year old Bernedoodle, Lulu. She has completed 3 weeks and we are finishing up with one more week to master general obedience commands like “place”, “heel” (she was a puller and now walks in line with us), “come” , “drop”, “up” and “sit”. She has learned not to get overly excited for guests, (a big problem for us) and we can use the tools we’ve learned from the trainers to get her to stay down or go to her spot to wait until it’s time to be greeted, without protest. Lulu is truly a new pup. It was super easy dropping her off at the counter on our way to work, then picking her up on the way home. It was nice having the option to sign her up for play time with the dogs staying at woofs and having her board there while we were out of town for five days of her training. This woofs location is super clean and we liked that we could watch the play area cameras to see her play. Richard and the other trainers are excellent communicators and we felt very comfortable leaving our baby in their capable hands. Thank you KC Dawgz!!”

“Absolutely loved this place for my Nina girl! I started her in training at 5 months old, Christina was amazing- great at communicating, and trained her so well! She always checked in with me everyday after training, and I knew my babygirl was safe with her always! I can’t thank Christina enough! Thank you KC Dawgz! Hopefully will be back soon😊”

Training for Mission's Close-Quarters Blocks

Between the apartments off Foxridge Drive and the busy sidewalks along Johnson Drive, these are the goals we hear most:

  • Quiet on cue. No barking at every hallway footstep or passerby.
  • Calm greetings. Polite in shared hallways and elevators.
  • A solid settle. Relaxes while you cook or work in a small space.
  • Leash focus. Steady past strollers, joggers, bikes, and skateboards on Johnson Drive.

Real Mission Distractions We Train Around

Mission packs a lot of life into a small footprint. Streamway Park has a short, shaded paved loop that almost always has joggers, strollers, and other dogs on it, which makes it a perfect proving ground for loose-leash walking and recall.

For a longer outing, Rock Creek Trail runs over a mile and a half and tests focus around bikes and wildlife. Victor X Andersen Park draws families for events and games, and the Thursday-evening Mission Market packs crowds, food vendors, and live music into one tight space.

Picture a young rescue that’s fine at home but freezes and air-snaps the moment a skateboard rolls past on Johnson Drive. That’s the kind of case we build a plan around, tailored to your dog, your block, and the way you live in Mission.

Our Dog Training Services in Mission

Our most popular program and a true dog training camp. Your dog lives and learns with our trainers for an immersive stretch, then comes home transformed. Choose the Obedience track for everyday manners and off-leash reliability, or Behavior Modification for tougher issues like aggression and severe anxiety.

Drop your dog off in the morning and pick up a tired, better-behaved dog that afternoon. Our trainers do the hands-on work during the day, then show you what they taught so you can keep it going at home. A great fit for busy schedules that can’t spare a full board and train stay.

Early socialization and foundation obedience, done carefully for close-quarters living. We cover housebreaking, crate manners, quiet-in-close-quarters habits, and early leash work. That way, your pup stays confident when a stroller or skateboard rolls past on Johnson Drive.

One-on-one sessions focused on your goals, at our academy or in your own Mission home or apartment. Ideal for targeted issues like leash pulling, jumping, hallway barking, or reactivity. You get a plan built around your dog and direct coaching every step.
Structured group sessions that build obedience and social confidence around other dogs and handlers. A budget-friendly way to sharpen skills and proof them against real-world distractions. A great next step after a board and train or private program.

Mission Dog Training FAQs

Do you offer dog training in Mission?

Yes. We serve all of Mission from our Overland Park academy, about 10 to 15 minutes south of Johnson Drive, plus in-home private lessons at your Mission house or apartment.

I'm in an apartment. Can you help with barking and close-quarters manners?

Yes, that is one of our most common goals in Mission, especially off Foxridge Drive and Shawnee Mission Parkway. We tailor the plan to apartment living.

Do you train small breeds like French Bulldogs for apartment life?

Yes. Small dogs still need real manners, and breeds such as French Bulldogs do best with early socialization and clear house rules for calm, quiet living.

Where would my Mission dog train?

Board & Train and Day Training happen at our Overland Park facility. Private lessons can be there or in your Mission home, and we often practice at Streamway Park or Rock Creek Trail.

How much does dog training cost?

It depends on the program, so we begin with a free evaluation and then give clear, written pricing before anything starts.

Do you work with aggressive or reactive dogs?

Yes. Our Behavior Modification Board & Train is built for aggression, severe anxiety, and leash reactivity, including skateboard and bike reactivity on Johnson Drive.
